Dr Chris McKenzie, Head of Unit
Chris is currently employed by the University of Edinburgh in a dual role as a Deputy Programme Director of the MSc in the Clinical Management of Pain and as the Head of the Digital Education Unit for the Edinburgh Medical School. As the Head of the Digital Education Unit, it is his duty to help review, develop and grow the provision of technology-enhanced teaching and learning within the College.

Vanessa Mather, Learning Technology Advisor
Vanessa’s academic background is in computer sciences, modern languages, and (more recently) digital education. Her interest in digital education evolved from her initial intention to combine Information Technology and languages to teach Portuguese online (her first language). She is proud to work at the University of Edinburgh supporting and enabling learning with the use of learning technology. She is passionate about education and its potential to create new knowledge and enhance people’s lives.
Ute Barrett, Learning Technology Advisor
Ute has been an educator and online learning specialist for over 25 years, teaching in Higher and Further Education. Her focus now is on Learning Technology, having advised and supported many subject areas and undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Ute holds an MSc in Information Technology and is a certified Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE). She has presented at international conferences on various areas of Learning Technology and has been developing and rolling out the hybrid teaching approach at Edinburgh Medical School as well as developing ideas to advance learning and teaching via technology.
Olga Paterson, Learning Technology Advisor
Olga specialise and have several years of experience in digital education, learning technology and online learning. She has recently completed a PgDip in Digital Education from the University of Edinburgh. She is also very interested in fiction translation, and her dream is to do a PhD in translation of Harry Potter books into Russian and French. Big fan of Harry Potter book series and proud to live in its birthplace, Edinburgh.
