Crossing borders and breaking down barriers: public health approaches for a complex world
Inaugural Lecture by SCPHRPs Professor Ruth Jepson
8th April 2020 at 5.15pm
Theatre G.03, 50 George Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9LH
The concept of public health has been around for centuries but its function and form is neither static nor universal. Changing demographics and underlying health problems in populations necessitate the evolution of public health priorities and approaches. As policy and practice are determined by social, political, environmental, economic and cultural factors, few public health interventions can be developed and delivered effectively without understanding, and working with, the context and complexity in which they will operate.
