The power of design for the environment

Designs that resonate with people must combine personal reflection and emotion, incorporating their own unique understanding of things.
This is a good form of design, which not only spreads the concept of environmental protection but also extends the value of waste, but many works are often too abstract, resulting in works that do not achieve the popularity of the concept of environmental protection to the public, or are too concrete to reach people’s hearts.

In fact, as designers we can develop many starting points, not necessarily the most straightforward redesign of waste to achieve the promotional effect. We can think about how we can lead the public to become aware of the seriousness of environmental pollution, so that we can expand the influence of environmental protection ideas and get more people to join the queue to protect the environment. The format is not just limited to visual output either, it can also be a design for an environmentally friendly lifestyle, a change in consumption patterns etc. Straightforward messages don’t always make a lasting impression, it’s the design that makes people think that stimulates their minds and hearts to realise the seriousness of the pollution and waste problem and the urgency of environmental protection.

Finally, and most fundamentally, if we are designing for the environment, we must have a deep understanding of sustainability and other concepts, and not try to please the public just because it is a hot topic. A design that loses its core idea will be instantly recognisable. The design will only stand up if it is well researched.

Examples: Some forums and exhibitions about environmentally friendly lifestyle.
