THE LOVE OF PRINT: 50 YEARS OF GLASGOW PRINT STUDIO

Working across different print mediums such as screenprint, etching, relief printing on wood and lino, digital printing and laser cutting, creating a varied and vast output.

The exhibition has greatly expanded my knowledge of art printing and opened my eyes to the possibilities of printing. But more importantly, I saw how the artist subtracted from the image in some of the traditional ways of printing effects, such as graphics, colour and composition, which are useful for young artists to think about creatively.

Here is a collection of works that I admired at the exhibition:

ELIZABETH BLACKADDER

PAPHIOPEDILUM INSIGNE HYBRID, 1992(Left)
ORCHIDACEAE CAMBRIA (LIVING FIRE), 1993(Center
ORCHIDACEAE MASDAVALLIA DRACULA BELLA, 1993(Right)

The interesting theme of ‘Expression’ in the G Floor East is the exhibition Masks and the World, which features masks from all over the world that are used to transform roles in traditional performances and rituals. Of course, masks have also taken on new symbolic meanings for the present day.

Here is a sketch I made based on the museum:
