Social constructivism in art learning encourages students to construct their own scaffolding model of the learning process, whichis a specific self-path formed from their own experiences. In completing the Learn to Love You More website, the art assignments are rich in practice and require students to work hands-on to produce work or complete experiences. The importance of experience is reflected in the requirements of many of the assignments. For example, Assignment No. 53 is to give advice to your past self, which requires a great deal of memory support. Assignment No.16 is to make apaper replica of your bed, which also requires some hands-on experience of making it. The assignment was also uploaded publicly to the internet, which also had the effect of supporting personal artwork. In the process of completing my assignment No. 56, I had to rely on my own experience to create a visual description of my friend’s wish. The process of making it allowed for creativity based on the subject matter I wanted to express, while viewing the form of others’ public assignments deepened understanding of the topic and enabled the flow of knowledge within the group.
Critical pedagogy is more radical in that it encourages critical thinking in artistic practice, rebelling against traditional approaches to education and fresh approaches to research. In many of the requirements for art assignments, students are encouraged to think critically and to solve problems independently. In the process of selecting assignments and looking at the requirements, many of the requirements seem simple but are challenging and may overturn traditional perceptions. For example, taking pictures of trees and recreating scenesand so on, there areno correct answers provided, so the assignments do not limit students’ thinking.
In connectionism, there is a greater emphasis on ties rather than specific elements, and they focus on making new connections from the existing body of knowledge to drive learning. The Learn to Love You More website is more like a large online art education community where people can learn about art and share and exchange their work, like an exhibition where people come and go, bridging the distance between artists and ordinary people, teachers and students, and the process of developing artists. Changing the traditional model of learning, through online assignments and open homework, people are encouraged to connect with art and artists through this approach. In completing assignment 56, by looking at the posters made by others, a first impression of the learner was also formed based on preference. By communicating her wishes to her friends, it allowed her to indirectly participate in the art assignments as well.
