Task One

I sat in the park that overlooks Arthur’s Seat by my flat for ten minutes as dusk was settling in and let my body relax and let my unconscious feelings become conscious. The five words that came to me were:

  • Numb
  • Fatigue
  • Throbbing
  • Tingling
  • Liberated
Task Two

I sat outside St James Quarter in the afternoon and observed the ebb and flow of people walking through the entrance for 20 minutes. A few notes I took to help me with my score:

  • fast walkers
  • Slow groups
  • continuous chatter that gets closers then further away
  • Heavy construction noise
  • Traffic
  • Walking the same path
  • Repetition + Rhythm

Task Three

My group shut our eyes and walked around the Royal Botanical Gardens and tried to navigate the environment around us. It was a very cold day so you could feel the air around you very strongly, we also noticed our senses like hearing were heightened which influenced our scores.

Task Four

After a group of six of us walked around Grassmarket in formation we jotted down some notes (above) about our experience to help plan our score.

We liked the concept of how during the beginning we felt very awkward and rigid so we walked close together then as we grew more comfortable we began to disperse more so we tried to show this action on our score. Each person drew their own score on one of the six lines that all come from one starting point.
