Noisy Score Collage

I returned to St James Quarter to take photos that would help me develop my score into a collage of the experience.

I added more graphical details of the entrances and stairs in St James Quarter because when I returned I didn’t just observe people walking in and out of the building I decided to walk the route as well in order to gain a better understanding of the sounds, rhythm and emotions.

Quick thumbnails of key moments of the route in and out of the building.

Experimentation

I wanted to incorporate my own photos and sketches into my collage so the frames above are examples of how I tested ways of combining the two different media.

By printing out my photos and tracing over them I was able to achieve accurate and crisp lines which were important to have to express the modernity of St James Quarter.

Developments

To make my collage more visually exciting I used my developing photoshop skills to experiment with different filters, photo effects, layering and opacity.  This helped me consolidate a clear colour scheme of orange and blue (complimentary colours)  which reminds me of  my walks home from the ECA campus in dusk where I often pass St James Quarter which becomes illuminated from the orange sunsets.
