Project Research

Researching my Theme:

After choosing my theme I researched several articles and studies regarding changes in peoples eating habits and food preparation during lockdown taking the information I learned into consideration when creating my survey. Here are a few of the articles I looked at:

https://translational-medicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12967-020-02399-5

https://www.businessinsider.com/eating-habits-during-covid?r=US&IR=T#the-instant-pot-has-been-a-helpful-tool-for-those-who-havent-felt-like-spending-hours-cooking-lately-4

https://www.foodbusinessnews.net/articles/16226-eight-in-ten-consumers-changed-their-eating-habits-due-to-covid-19

Designer research:

Looking at designers who translate data into textiles, who use texture and fabric manipulation in their works

Stitch and Fabric Manipulation research:

My stitch and fabric manipulation research consists of many YouTube videos some of which are listed below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKAj7ipSgDA&feature=youtu.be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WlOU9AIA40&feature=youtu.be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmPNPwZyDcQ&feature=youtu.be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZedYK_qtMrs&feature=youtu.be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxyXK8exNxo&feature=youtu.be

Out of the first 3 links, I tried applying some of these fabric manipulation techniques where possible in my samples . The last 3 links that I have included are other techniques I looked at during my research that I found really fascinating and would eventually love to incorporate some of these techniques in my work.

Short sharp post but it gets your point across. Looking forward to seeing more detail and personal response to the designers you have been looking at in future posts.
