Friday 7th November

Dear All,

Thank you for your work this week.

Congratulations to Ricarda Fillhardt in her new job with us as a Digital Safety Support Officer from Monday.

And welcome Emily Braun  who started with us on our captioning project  and Dono Abdurahmanova joining the UX team this week as our new Green Digital Design Intern.

Thank you to those who set off to the Kaltura conference and commiserations for the long and disrupted journey back. Staff Development Opportunities  And to those who have been organising and looking forward to Drupal Camp Scotland.

Thank you to those who attended the University’s EDI roadmap discussion, I look forward to hearing news of what new focus there will be.

Thank you to all who are rapidly engaging with discussions about how agentic AI in browsers might impact student and staff behaviour in our systems. If it is a topic which interests you, let your manager know.

More than 1,000 staff have now attended our AI training, so I am confident that we are making good inroads into ‘AI literacy’.

There are more strikes coming up 17-19th November. Hopefully they will not be too disruptive to the graduations.  It remains to be seen whether a marking and assessment boycott will follow.

Please keep your services, teams and service descriptions up to date in case anyone comes looking for us. And it is that time of year to update our festive/Christmas card list, so please gather the names of anyone around the place who has given their time and energy into our projects and initiatives this year.

Have a good weekend.
