Friday 29th August

Dear All,

Thank you for your work this week.

As some of you enjoy your August salary increase from this august institution, we wave goodbye this week to Katie Grieve and her excellent intern, Miriam George.  You can see the impact of Katie’s work on our ISG EDI Hub ISG Equality, Diversity and Inclusion – Home  and her blog blogs.ed.ac.uk  and read Miriam’s research report there too. What are the career paths of past ISG interns? Miriam researched the careers of our intern alumni.

Speaking of alumni, you may have seen a report in the Tab about graduate salaries. Here also is Edinburgh’s graduate outcomes survey.Graduate Outcomes Survey Annual Report 2025.pdf

If you would like to enhance your own performance and development, there are courses available to Celebrate European Day of Languages 2025 with us! | Una Europa and this year’s cohort for CMALT is open Join the CMALT Programme 2025/26

If you would like to develop your own content, our next “Content Improvement Club” event is: Editing that works: nine techniques for improving content https://www.events.ed.ac.uk/index.cfm?event=book&scheduleID=80620

If you would like to develop your own workplace helper tools, remember we have our own LTW resource for considering generative AI

Generative AI Resource and Information Hub for LTW – Home Please ensure that our most recent output and blogs from intern projects over the summer are added in there. More intern AI innovation has been shared by Karen https://www.linkedin.com/posts/karen-howie-a8344826_this-thread-covers-some-of-my-highlights-activity-7366368353139015680-yPge?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAEcKs8B0sjwDFwVM5qMc-JgbweCVL4SJkc. A full report from the university-wide ‘AI Taskforce’ will be available soon.

With rapidly changing workplace conditions, some people join unions to fight for better pay and conditions. The Edinburgh branch of the University and College Union (UCUE) have confirmed strike action during Welcome Week, Monday 8 to Friday 12 September 2025. If you are joining that strike, remember to fill in your declaration. Industrial Action – Home

Have a good weekend,

-Melissa
