Friday 28th March

Dear All,

Thank you for your work this week.

It was lovely to see so many of you at the ISG-All Staff meeting. Thank you for asking questions in the chat.

As Gavin mentioned, I do now have a view of the budget and FTE we have been set for next year. Please do discuss with your line managers how we can keep doing the work we need to do within those parameters.

We will have plenty of summer interns to join us this summer. The adverts which have closed have attracted dozens of applicants, so there is much work to be done in shortlisting and interviewing to find these new colleagues.

Lucas from the LST team has done a blog from recent trip to ISE technology show Integrated Systems Europe 2025 – Audio Visual Technology @ UoE

Aysha from DSDT blogged about controlling your data on social media: https://blogs.ed.ac.uk/dsdt/digital-safety/controlling-your-data-on-social-media

Fiona has been printing posters for our next comms campaign to encourage students to ask for the microphone in lectures. If you would like to see the posters they are on the wing.

Next week Jonathan will be presenting to ISG SLT to give an update on the professional programmes we run. Looking at the attendance demographic data for the Talent and Development Programmes (Aspiring Manager, Edinburgh Manager, and Edinburgh Leader) in comparison to Digital Skills, and LinkedIn Learning. Digital Skills is the only one to have a higher proportion of minority ethnicity attendees than the University population which is good news for our service design and work towards an inclusive organisation.

I note that the unions are balloting for strike action, so it is not impossible that we will see some disruption similar to last time that happened.

Have a good weekend.
