Welcome to Making Routes

Makingroutes.org is an online resource for researchers and practitioners who are on the move: using journeys in creative or challenging ways; forging new paths through troubled places; or travelling experimentally with art and ideas.

Making Routes is an art-research project that has been convened by Laura Bissell (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and David Overend (University of Edinburgh) since 2011.

This website gathers our blogs and publications and brings our art and writing into dialogue with others working in this dynamic field.

Laura Bissell is a performance-researcher, writer, and arts educator based in Glasgow. She has published five books and her poetry, creative writing and research features in journals and anthologies. Laura’s creative projects and research interests include: technology, ecology, interdisciplinarity, matrescence, feminism and performance and journeys. She is an Athenaeum Research Fellow at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
