学園祭は私にとって本当に意義深くて楽しい経験でした。学園祭前、学生自治についてのインタビューで、現代の日本の学生運動について学びました。日本の大学では、市民権や環境保護の活動が行われていることを知りました。ただし、日本の大学における学生運動は数十年前ほど人気がありません。また、1960年代から1970年代にかけて、米国との安全保障条約などの問題に対する学生の抗議活動が盛んであったことをさらに調査しました。
学園祭では、私たちのグループが携帯チャーム、パン、カードゲームを考案しました。携帯チャームとパンが人気でよく売れたことをうれしく思いました。私たちの協力を楽しみ、他のグループの作品を見るのも楽しかったです。学園祭は楽しく協力的な大学の活動であり、それを経験することで日本の文化に近づくことができました。
The Gakuensai was a really meaningful and fun experience for me. In my interview about student autonomy and activism in Japan before Gakuensai, I learned about student activism in Japan nowadays. I learned that in some univerisites, they would have activities for civil rights and environment protection. However, student activism in Japanese universities isn’t as popular as it was decades ago. I also did some more research into the topic, learning that in the 1960s-70s, student protests were prevalent, particularly against issues such as the United States-Japan Security Treaty.
In the Gakuensai, our group came up with phone charms, bakeries, and card games. I was glad that the phone charms and bakeries were popular and sold well. I really enjoyed our collaboration, and seeing other groups’ work was fun too. Gakuensai was a fun and collaborative university activity, and experiencing it myself got me closer to Japanese culture.
