In this blog, I would like to write about this year’s gakuensai (school festival). First of all, I think this year’s school festival was much the same as last year’s, but this time much of my role was mentoring first-year students. However, it seemed more vibrant and crowded this year. Through my interviews at this year’s Japanese school festival, I learned that the timing and events of school festivals vary from university to university. It was also interesting to see the variety of clubs and activities, both traditional and modern. All in all, i enjoyed this year’s gakuensai more than in first year, and it seems that my classmates felt the same way. All the stalls looked like a lot of planning was put into them and they were all quite fun to experience. Moreover, I enjoyed talking to the Japanese students and learning about student life in japan more than anything.
