Thank you for visiting the website for the national research study exploring how digital technologies are being used in instrumental and vocal music teaching.

Whether you teach privately, in schools, colleges, universities, specialist music schools, or community settings, your voice matters!

This research examines how music teachers in the UK are utilising apps, online tools, virtual lessons, and digital resources, and how these technologies are influencing music education today. There are two phases: A national survey for instrumental and vocal teachers, and one-to-one interviews with teachers, parents and students.

How You Can Get Involved

All instrumental and vocal teachers are invited to take part in one or more parts of the study:

1. Take the Survey

Share your experiences as an instrumental or vocal teacher working in the UK by completing the online questionnaire:

Take the Survey

2. Take Part in an Interview

We’re also looking for teachers, parents and students to take part in an interview to share more in-depth views and experiences. If you’re interested in contributing to the next phase:

Get interviewed

3. Stay in the Loop

If you’d like to receive a summary of the overall research findings once the study is complete, you will need to sign up. By signing up, you’ll be the first to hear about the key insights from the national study on Teaching Music in the Digital Age, including how instrumental and vocal teachers across the UK are using digital technologies in their lessons.
