This post shares information regarding the second community engagement theme, exploring community perspectives on a cultural space.

Aim: To gain resource to provide a dedicated cultural space specifically for the use of communities from racially minoritised backgrounds as an integrated part of a new research centre focusing on different racisms, legacies of slavery and colonialism and anti-Black violence. The provision of such a space would be directly linked to recommendations for improving university climate for staff, students  and communities from racially minoritised backgrounds. 

These focus group will explore the kinds of attributes required for community use; the kind of engagements involved and how they will benefit communities through extramural education; and the role such a space could play in connecting to different projects within and outside of the university. This would be an opportunity to incorporate affected communities into the life and soul of the university, giving them visibility and easy access to different projects, research groups, funding streams etc.

These sessions will be held on the 3rd and 16th of April 2024, and we would be pleased if you could attend one or both sessions. Participants will receive compensation for their time and expertise, as well as reimbursement for travel expenses incurred.
