46 mothers and their babies aged between 3-6 months took part in our observational experiment to explore how mothers and babies interact with each other after the mother has used her smartphone. We asked each mother to play with her baby for 2 minutes, and then to take a phone call and/or engage in a text message conversation. We then asked the mothers to play with their babies again, to see how they would interact. The data from this study have now been analysed and a summary of results is posted here:
