As 2020 comes to a close (finally), I am sure that we are all ruminating on what this year has brought to us in the form of challenges, surprises, and growth. I can’t help but think about what a crazy past few months this has been that has affected so many people. However with the semester coming to a close the positives of 2020 are starting to shine through. This is the year of “little golden moments” that you may not have experienced in a “normal year”. Here are some of my golden moments, and I hope that you find some common ground or also think back to the golden moments instead of the pitfalls and hardships of this tough year.
– Zoom calls with pals, including quizzes, and keeping in touch with people that I normally would not regularly
– Noticing the little things: the birds outside the window, the changing of the leaves outside, a day without rain, a rainy day spent with candles.
– Feeling the love of family and friends, even if through text, video chat, social distance walks
– The importance of getting outside to break up the days
– The importance of taking breaks
– The importance of realizing that it is okay to feel like this has been a tough year, because it has!
– Allowing yourself to emote.
I hope that you all have a lovely break this holiday season, and spend time with loved ones in any way that you can, but most importantly take time to spend with yourself. Have a happy holiday season and a happy new year friends!
