December feelings

December feelings

I have always found it difficult to describe my feelings about December. It is the month where exams and Christmas are coming at the same time and my stress levels will be sky high. I will usually try to think about all the Christmas holidays and food that I am going to have after the exams to make myself feel motivated about the exams. I think it works! I also have a few more things on my mind that I think have helped me with my reading and I would like to share them with you guys.

1) To make no comparison
I know it is hard to avoid comparing yourself with your peers but trust me, you do know your stuff. Be confident! I used to find myself panicking over the fact that other students had made their own notes while I had not done any. But slowly, I came to realize that making my own notes is not that helpful for me. Everyone has their own study methods that work for them. I don’t think I have gained anything from comparing but lost confidence in myself. So I would really encourage you to stick to the things that you know will help you.

2) Take a break
It is really important to take a break from studying during the revision week and give yourself some credit (even if you think you deserve none). It can be a short catch-up with a friend who you haven’t seen for a while or even a gym session. I think taking a break has helped me to focus more . It is also good that you have a plan to guide you through revision. I will usually organize and plan about how much reading I will be doing each day so I can make sure that I will be able to cover everything.

3) Eat and keep warm
Don’t forget about your meals and make sure that you eat enough during revision week to feed all the brain cells that have been working hard for you. I am not really the type of person who will forget about my food but instead I will have too many snacks. I feel so guilty afterwards, but they have really helped me to stay sane through the whole revision week. So no matter what type of person you are, treat yourself with good food while reading! P.S. The Library Bar has 2 for 1  nachos Monday to Friday, 3-6pm.

Good luck with the exams and enjoy your Christmas break!

I will be spending my Christmas and New Year in the States this year. It will be my first time there and I am really excited about it. I have been thinking about New York cheesecakes and bagels all this time. I will share my trip with you in my next blog. Lastly, I wish anyone who is travelling home a safe journey and I hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year.

Till we meet again in New Year.
