We were asked to suggest an example of media that represents a particular design that we found inspiring and say why we had chosen it. Gapminder came to mind.
I was privileged to see Hans Rosling present Gapminder at a conference a few years ago, as he demonstrated how the work they were doing brought out meaning in large pre-existing data sets. This really shows the difference design makes in terms of perception, as large data sets alone are indigestible as they are.
Of course, it also reminds us that work done on data is interpretive and always changes them.
