Reading Time: < 1 minute

In brief

WCAG 2.2 introduced nine additional success criteria (since WCAG 2.1) in October 2023. These relate very specifically to webpages, especially interactive elements (e.g. buttons, text entry, security features).

At Edinburgh

For those limiting themselves to making Office-based resources (e.g. PowerPoint slides, Word documents), hosting video/audio in Media Hopper, building content using the tools in Learn, and using EdWeb for websites, these additions may not represent a change from WCAG 2.1 (though it is our responsibility to check).

However, for all of us it is still important to consider any materials linked to or relied upon on (e.g. websites built outside EdWeb, multimedia resources, forms for data entry). These (whether ours or third party) should also be WCAG 2.2 compliant or have a compliant alternative offered simultaneously.
