Aims

Project aims

  • Estimate the present carbon fluxes and their determinants by using radar remote sensing, in situ observations, and model-data fusion.
  • Explore future scenarios of land use and climate change to understand the safe operating space is for the dry tropics i.e. under what combination of global change drivers can the open savannas continue to co-exist with dry forest, maintaining the structural and floristic diversity that underpins ecosystem service delivery from these biomes.

SECO will achieve these aims by providing answers to four research questions about the ecosystem ecology of the dry tropics, and testing several key hypotheses.
