Cumbernauld Conservation Area Appraisal – Scottish Centre for Conservation Studies

In 2008 a group of 18 of our Area Conservation students carried out a Conservation Area Appraisal of Cumbernauld (New Town) in association with North Lanarkshire Regional Council. Their work was coordinated and supervised by Ruxandra-Iulia Stoica and focussed specifically on Greenfaulds, Seafar, Ravenswood and the City Centre.

The study was carried out over the course of five weeks, and involved a historic study and recording and analysis of townscape and open spaces, resulting in a SWOT analysis and a series of recommendations for the future.
