FRESH MEAT 2023

Our first group exhibition as first year Fine Art students, titled ‘Fresh Meat’ is being held between the Monday 20th November and Thursday 23rd November 2023. The exhibition gave us the opportunity to select and install artworks which we had made over the 3 projects (and/or from our elective course) in the ECA Sculpture Court, under the guidance of our tutors and technicians as well as the curation team, the installation team and the event team. Installation began at 10am, from which we worked together to prepare the exhibition for private viewing at 5.30pm.

While viewing the artworks exhibited, I was pleasantly surprised at the range of processes and materials used by my peers. It was also interesting to see artwork made by people I don’t know as well as those who work in the same studio bays as me. However, despite the uniqueness of everyone’s work, the exhibition was curated in a way that resulted in a sense of cohesion and community between us as a group, which I think made our first exhibition a great success.
