Week 5
Over the past few weeks I have finished preparing and getting ready to be on set for “Derealization.” In this time I watched many videos on what being a ‘good boom-op’ meant and some other sound things to be aware of so that I could be fully prepared for when I went onto set. I also read through an online course that talked about sound in film as a whole.
Here are the youtube videos I watched;
as well as few others on sound mixing and sound recording in general including:

I had heard about screenskills previously, and thought it would be a good resource to refresh everything that we had learned at the beginning of the year so I would be fully prepared on set.
What a lot of these videos showed me is how noticeable bad sound is — and how unnoticeable good sound is. So on set, my mission was to make myself seem sort of invisible within the shot, meaning that no one would even really pay attention to the sound during the edit, they would just head good sound and accept it. Because my director had informed me prior to shooting that nothing crazy would happen with the sound department side of things, I knew that I could prepare for a fairly calm shoot with my only goal being to record clear audio.
