Week 4 – Blog Post

This week I attended a crew meeting with the rest of the crew and got to meet the director, producer, and HOD’s in person. I also signed a production agreement sent to me by the producer of the film making my role on this film official.Crew Agreement Dahlia Hellerstein (1) 2 I am still waiting for a draft of the script to be sent to me, but was told that I would get one before the end of Week 5 so I can start doing a script breakdown of sounds.

To prepare me further  for this role I signed up for an additional online sound course to learn more about all of the different functions in a boom mic (so I could understand what everything on the recorder does, and ensure that I was collecting the sound in the most optimal way) as well as learning more about the difference between a boom mic and a lav mic, as I feel like I could be more educated on what to use when.

In this weeks masterclass with Clea Tammes

  1. Getting to know your audience really well is key to learning how to connect with them
  2. Media and publicity is key to film, as there is no other way for people to learn about the film.
  3. Te audience and demographic that a film is catering too will use different outlets to advertise — for example a teen film will spend more advertising on social medias
  4. Publicity involves making sure the release of the film goes smoothly, as well as interacting with cast and crew to build up a rapport and get a feel for the film.
  5. The rewarding aspect of publicity will come from the larger audience you can reach, and working to really get the feel for a film.
