My reflection and additional research for week 5:
Different color temperatures of light are suitable for different types of spaces, and understanding how to use them effectively can greatly enhance the functionality and atmosphere of a space. Here are some general guidelines for selecting color temperatures for different types of spaces:
- Cool white (4000K-5000K): This color temperature is ideal for workspaces such as offices, classrooms, and hospitals where high levels of alertness and productivity are required. Cool white light mimics natural daylight and has been shown to increase alertness and reduce eye strain.
- Neutral white (3500K-4000K): This color temperature is suitable for spaces where both comfort and productivity are important, such as retail stores, showrooms, and galleries. Neutral white light provides a balanced illumination that is easy on the eyes and creates a welcoming atmosphere.
- Warm white (2700K-3000K): This color temperature is ideal for spaces where relaxation and comfort are the primary considerations, such as bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms. Warm white light creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere that is conducive to rest and relaxation.
