Aims for Design Studio this semester

The problem I noticed during the first semester is that I could not draw ideas from my reference very efficiently. Although I have created my board of “idea” on Pinterest, I still struggle to start a new drawing every time because I do not feel my idea is creative enough. In my second semester, I want to keep collecting references, and draw something not based on real life but more surrealistic. I hope doing so could help me jump out from my current thinking circle, and find some new ways of generating ideas.

Secondly, I want to train my skill of using color. I was into monochrome ink drawing last semester, I enjoyed the process and outcome, but still felt not totally satisfied because of the lack of color. For my new goal, I intend to add more palettes in my works and testing the effects of warm, cold, contrast and dramatic. I will continue my magazine project, and experiment with multiple colorful surrealistic illustrations in this semester.
