The edible sculpture- A creation being swallowed by others

People always think about the copyright of the inventor of a work, however, as time went by, some of the inventions turned out to be universalized. E.g. tights, washing machines, air conditioning, pencil, etc.. A question here: the creations of human beings are owned by the creator, or for the whole humanities?
