Plastic Strings on Tree.
To start off I used plastic bags and sting to create this garland of sorts, I wanted to combine the use of plastics and the natural surroundings, I tried photographing it in my garden to see hw it would intertwine with the branches. I really enjoyed the intricate branches forcing you to trail the line of the plastic balls throughout the whole tree, trying to figure out where it goes or overlaps.
I also decide to photograph the work by it self to capture its form a bit better. I also wanted to capture the movement it had in the wind. I also explore the use of the fence to see how different the work would look when not adjusting to the wind or more deplaning spaces like intwine the branches and such.
Taking the plastic bags that I made into these decorative like chains outside, to decorate the trees I wanted to capture the way they behave when hanged or when manipulated by the surrounding like the wind. I think the tonal whites, blacks and clear bags really blended into the scenery and I wasn’t too pleased with that as I want ed the string to capture the eye of any by standers. This is something to consider when developing the work further.
Wanting to having something more eye catching I started exploring how I can transform the sting – finding that the sings around nature that really caught my eye where red and in your face. This led me onto thinking about red and the different ways I can incorporate it into my work.
