Talking materials

As strong fluidity in the world, materials was thought to be the spiritual carrier of the manufacturer in the nature process of making, carrying stories of his or her life. However, In the commercial trend of industrialization, commodity materials has been symbolized as standardized identities, lacking of stories and carrying no spiritual impact. One serious problem is that when those stadardized materials come into people’s life, they shape people, making them standardized, rigid, and devoid of stories. People are engulfed by industrial production , becoming modern materials like plastics–imitative, cheap and unsustainable.

In conclusion, we are not separate from materials but a part of them, the whole process of individual useage is a part of our life story which build our spirit. It’s high time to redefine materials in modern community and bring stories back. The point is how we make individual stories visable, but not let advertisers and media tells us. Here are two pictures tell the differences between individual stories and social landscapes created by advertiser.
