The date is rapidly approaching. We have sorted out the issues with the octanorm, security, and staff. From now on, we need to only tie up all the loose ends and by the end of next week, we will have created a detailed plan of the exhibition’s set-up for the 6th of March and its takedown for the 9th of March.
The postcards and the survey have gone to print. The labels should be printed next week, with the catalogue of the exhibition following it closely the week after that. The octanorm walls and canvas for them have been arranged and are now in production.
Since I am also responsible for the “advice board,” it is the last point we have yet to settle on, but I will probably be perfecting the method in which we will be collecting responses throughout the exhibition, so we will have some substantial data to show afterwards. My initial ideas about the “advice wall” turned out to be too ambitious and impractical, so we simplified it to a free whiteboard, which will be easy to instal and use.
We have also talked extensively with the Conservators and they have been very helpful. Moreover, they let us visit their office, which was a highpoint of the day.
The website has just been launched and our Twitter account has been gaining followers, and #WhoTaughtHerThat has already received quite a few responses.
In retrospect, this placement afforded us great freedom in experimenting with new ideas and taking on exciting responsibilities, which made it a perfect fit for us to understand what the curatorial work truly entails. We are looking forward to the opening on the 6th of March!
