Edgar Martins

In 2006, Edgar Martin photographed forest fires that consumed vast area of Portugal. The changing temperatures have caused drought and high temperatures; leading to death and destruction from natural habitats. Although this isn’t cause by anthropogenic deforestation; anthropogenic climate change has cause varying temperatures and global warming that has an effect of drastic temperature fluctuations.

The forestry had management aspects due to the replanting of Eucalyptus which are highly flamable but fast growing tree that is normally used for reforestation. They tell the story of the ‘self-inflicted ‘natural’ disaster while creating images of intense beauty that belie the devastation wreaked by flames.’ – (A. Brown 2014)
