Training resources for planning your research and developing a research strategy

In this post Al Innes, Research Development Officer, highlights our learning and development resources designed to help you plan your research and develop your research strategy.

Researcher Development for Research Funding is a learning and development hub, designed to give you the skills you need to write competitive and ultimately successful, research funding applications. Designed around the University of Edinburgh’s Competency Framework for Research Funding, this development hub includes learning resources aimed at developing your research strategy.

These resources are designed to help you to understand and convey your personal research capabilities and vision. They will help you understand how your research, and research strategy, aligns with the strategic objectives of your department, institution and the wider funding landscape.

Developing a strategic, long-term and personal research strategy is a tool used by many of the most successful academics. It enables them to actively seek out those opportunities that align to their personal research strategy and equally, say ‘no’ to those things that do not support their overall research interests and ambitions. It provides a personal focus and reference point that acts as a mechanism for advancement.

In addition to providing you with the tools to develop your research strategically, these resources include specific support for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Funding Applications; Due Diligence with Overseas Research Partners, and practical advice on developing your Peer Review practice.
