New Collaboration with IFRC and Croix Rouge Madagascar

We have received funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s Impact Accelerator Account for a new project “Sustainable Improvement of Cyclone Resilience for Traditional Houses in Coastal Madagascar”.

Collaborating with the Croix Rouge Madagascar, this project focuses on using some of the test methods we’ve developed for finding the strength of materials and components in the field, but developing those methods so they can be broadly understood by the members of the community that come to watch. Through these collaborative experiments, we hope to both gather more information on the strength of traditional and improved building systems, and show communities first hand the benefits that can be achieved by following Croix Rouge’s guidance.
