How to search the University of Edinburgh website directly from Google Chrome

In Chrome, you can search Google directly via the omnibox (the address bar where you type a URL) .

It’s possible to customise this to search the University of Edinburgh website too.

How to set this up

Go to Chrome settings.

Search engine > Manage search engines.

Other search engines > Add.

Use these details:

Search engine: ed.ac.uk
Keyword: ed
URL with %s in place of query: https://search.ed.ac.uk/?q=%s

> Save

Now if you type “ed” in the omnibox and hit tab, you can search the University website directly from Chrome.
