Project Lead, Mark Holub (PhD candidate ECA) is an award-winning professional musician with twenty years’ experience as a drummer, composer and bandleader (Mercury Music Prize, German Record Critics Award) and specialist workshop facilitator. His PhD research examines leadership in contemporary improvised music ensembles, exploring the acquisition and expression of leadership characteristics in creative musical contexts. Mark’s first-hand experiences and reflections highlight many different pathways towards a creatively fulfilling career in music, including pragmatic insights on how to pay the rent at the same time.
