Anthea Tinker is Professor of Social Gerontology at King’s College London. In a career spanning four decades, three Universities and three Government Departments, she has undertaken a wide range of research in the field of social policy.

Having specialised in gerontology since 1974, Anthea has extensive expertise of working with older people, including stroke survivors. She has led five major national surveys of housing/care of older people and her portfolio extends to health and health trends, falls and accidents, the use of technology to aid navigation and mobility in older age.

One of Anthea’s particular interests is research ethics and she has carried out a national survey of university committees in the field. A consultant to the World Health Organization, EU and OECD, among many others, she has played a key role in knowledge exchange and in the evaluation of national level strategies on wellbeing over the life course.
