Friday 22nd August

Dear All,

Thank you for your work this week.

As the final weekend of Festivals is upon us,  that’s a wrap for the summer internships class of ’25.

We are waving goodbye and thank you to our Digital Safety Intern Aysha, our Graphic Design Intern Yaqi and our Digital Skills Trainer Aretha, all from DSDT.

From Learn Foundations we lose Holly Bisset, Milo Campbell, Kai Cheng, Julia Coney, Jacqueline Ding, Duncan Hood, Zani Mazarura, Kelci Noble, Maryam Sarhan and Ben Young. May your knowledge of the inner workings of VLEs and accessibility bring you good fortune for the future.

Leaving WAC are Osh Doherty – Green Web Platforms Intern, Zbigniew Kanabrodzki – Green Digital Design Intern, Mostafa Ebid – Digital Content Style Guide Intern, Li Ren Chin – Web Content Supervisor Intern and Arundhati Surendran – MyEd Data Analytics Intern. I know you will never look at websites the same way again.

And Tallulah Thompson leaves DLAM.

There’s been some more blogging:

From Geoff, A Valuable Journey: Media & Learning Conference – Educational Design and Engagement

From Elisa, https://blogs.ed.ac.uk/website-communications/whose-world-heritage-quick-reflection-on-student-workers-in-scotland-and-local-history/

From Jackie Making an impact with ThingLink – Digital Learning Applications and Media

And an update from Kevin on the move to Forrest Road: Where we work. Kevin has been on a site visit, taken lots of good photos and is sharing his notes. We will use our LTW colleague hub to keep each other up to date. You will notice that some of the spaces look lovely and have my favourite purple droid-chairs because LST have been in there already. Take a look.

In seasonal food news, we have nearly settled on a venue for our LTW Festive Lunch in December, having taken on the feedback from vegetarians of previous years. And if you find yourself with a garden glut of any kind get pickling and jamming, we will have a harvest festival chutney and preserve swap in October. Watch this space. The LTW Break Room.

Best wishes,

-Melissa
