Masood is a Computer Engineer and a Geographer. He is currently working on his PhD project, titled ‘Denaturalizing vulnerability to drought: A case study of Balochistan, Pakistan’, focusing on the political ecology of droughts in the South-Western province of Pakistan, Balochitan. Masood is interested in exploring the human dimensions of natural hazards and de-engineering the ‘fatal attraction’ of techno-fixes.
Before starting his PhD, Masood served a public-sector university in Balochistan as Lecturer. He also worked as a consultant on various GIS-based projects for the Government of Balochistan and UNDP. He is also a keen observer of Pakistani Politics and has been a member of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan.
