Statistical mechanics is the physical theory that links the properties of particles (atoms, molecules, colloids etc.) to the properties of matter. As you can imagine, this is important for Chemical Engineering and many other engineering and science disciplines.
Our research group is mainly interested in theoretical aspects of classical statistical mechanics, as well as the design of new kinds of advanced material or engineering process. Typically, this involves developing or using molecular simulation, density functional theory, or integral equation methods.
