Programme Evaluation (2026-2028)

2026-2028

The Love to Read programme evaluation intends to examine whether there are significant positive changes to children’s reading motivation and engagement following programme participation. A minimum of 20 schools (>1800 children) in England will be randomly allocated to either receive the programme or act as a control group, over a 12-week period. Children’s reading motivation and reading engagement will be measured before, immediately after, and a further 12 weeks later, in both groups. This type of evaluation will allow us to examine whether, in what contexts, and for whom, the Love to Read programme is effective.
