There’s freedom in working in fresh green spaces. The colours of the gorse in Spring lifts the spirits.

During this time – the most severe of lockdowns to date – we could only go outside for an hour, and be socially distanced, but the frontline workers were working outside. They needed to find people who were sleeping outside to help to accommodate anyone in need, to support anyone who was not able to come indoors and isolate, and to check up on people who were recently accommodated to break the loneliness and isolation of lockdown. This made their experiences very unique. They were working from outdoor ‘offices’ and it wasn’t all bad! A beautiful city all to themselves: it would have been perfect if it hadn’t been for the global pandemic and the Scottish weather.

The pandemic showed us the importance of enjoying the small things; a sunny day, the seasons changing, birds tweeting – do we still remember to stop and think about those things now that the streets are filled with cars again?
