Milestone House was set up during the Covid19 pandemic as a 10 bed step-up/step-down unit for people experiencing homeless who were discharged from acute hospital care. Puggy the Dog was the only visitor to be allowed to enter. The importance of pets for people experiencing homelessness is increasingly being understood and accommodated in hostels and hospices.

If the world turns upside down and you are experiencing the toughest of times then the presence of unconditional love is to be cherished.

Imagine if other places had allowed dogs in to break the isolation experienced by those ill with coronavirus who were not allowed human visitors? How might that have changed their experience of healthcare and positively impacted recovery?
