Edinburgh Student Vision: Dialogue, hearing and co-creating
Panellists: Jon Turner (Director, Institute for Academic Development), Neil Speirs (Widening Participation Manager), Tara Gold (Vice President Education at Edinburgh University Students’ Association), Lisa Kendall (Head of Academic and Student Administration, CAHSS), Sabine Rolle (Senior Lecturer, Department of European Languages and Cultures), Chris Perkins (Senior Lecturer in Japanese) and Tim Stratford (Professor and Personal Chair of Civil Engineering Design)
Location: McEwan Hall
This panel discussion will involve students and colleagues who helped shape our inductive approach to developing our Edinburgh Student Vision. It will explore three key areas:
– Why: An overview of our reasons and research for this methodology (10 mins)
– Who: Presentation of our reach, coverage and how we have tried to amplify voices of students and staff who are not always heard in strategic developments (10 mins)
– What: A discussion with panel members about what the Vision means for them, and our outputs (30 mins).
The session will provide delegates with insights and ideas for their own engagement and enhancement activities (e.g. course and programme enhancements, Student Representation and Staff development). We are also committed to being inclusive in all aspects of our Programme with the panel being reflective of our engagement. As a Programme, we are hoping that the session will provide us with an opportunity to help close the feedback loop on this work as well as hearing how we can improve our engagement work for other aspects of the Programme.
Delegates will be able to raise questions throughout using digital means as well as through more traditional hand-raising actions.
