This post provides a information on the upcoming changes coming to Learn. This release is subject to change and we will do our best to keep the information up to date before the release to live on the evening of Thursday the 4th of June 2026.

Improved rubric usability when adding or adjusting grades

Instructors can override grades without locking the rubric as well as provide feedback at the criterion-level for single or multiple attempts. Grades entered in the rubric grade pill update the attempt grade immediately.

For discussions and journals, grades now save at the attempt-level. The override workflow has been removed in these areas for a more consistent grading experience.

To improve consistency with the Flexible Grading area, the rubric score box label has been changed from “Submission” to “Rubric Score”. The sentence “You can only override the final grade for assessments with multiple attempts. Individual submissions are scored with a rubric.” has also been removed from underneath the rubric score box.

Provide answer-level feedback for multiple choice and multiple answer questions

Instructors can now add feedback for each answer option in multiple choice and multiple answer questions. This helps students understand why each choice is correct or incorrect after an attempt is submitted.

Instructors:

When creating or editing a multiple choice or multiple answer question, instructors can turn on Option Feedback, which prompts Feedback textboxes to appear beneath each answer option. Instructors can enter the answer options and feedback for any of the options.

When an instructor creates a multiple choice question, they can toggle on Option Feedback then enter feedback for any of the answer options. When they turn on Option Feedback toggle, a textbox appears beneath each answer option where they can enter the feedback.

Students:After submitting an attempt, students receive feedback for each answer option they selected if the instructor has left feedback on that answer option. This helps students understand their performance at a more detailed level and supports learning from incorrect choices.

Lock answer options in a fixed position for multiple choice and multiple answer questions

Instructors can now lock specific answer options in a fixed position so they remain in place when other options are randomized. This is useful for answer choices such as “None of the above” or “All of the above” that should always appear at the end of the list regardless of randomization settings.

When creating or editing a multiple choice or multiple answer question, instructors can designate specific answer options as locked. To lock an option in place, select Randomize answers in the Assessment Settings, then select the lock icon next to the answer option. Locked options remain in their set position during randomization while all other options shuffle as expected.

Instructors can remove a lock any time while editing the question. Locking designations can also be updated as part of a regrading flow.

Known Issues

The below know issues have will be fixed with this update:

Additional floating point roundoff errors with certain rubrics

When grading an assignment using a percentage-based rubric, a student who earns full points can receive a slightly reduced calculated score due to floating-point roundoff behaviour. This issue has now been resolved and the submission will display a full calculated score.

Text colour resets to default black after duplicating coloured text in assignment submission

Duplicating coloured text in Bb Annotate, the duplicated text resets to black instead of keeping the original colour. This issue has now been resolved and duplicated text will retain the same colour as the original text.
