Most Informatics courses publish their course materials openly at Informatics OpenCourse. This aligns with the values of the OpenCourseWare movement and ensures we have built the largest collection of OERs across the UoE. If you have a new course, and would like to publish your materials on OpenCourse please get in touch and we can create a template for you. OpenCourse is built on Drupal.
You (the course organiser and/or lecturer) can publish/unpublish your pages at any stage. However, we encourage you to keep your materials open as much as possible, and an archive is taken every July to allow you to update your materials for the forthcoming academic year.
Lecture slides should be made available at least 48 hours prior to the lecture taking place and reading lists should be sent to the Library in advance to ensure they are published in time for semester start.
We have updated a blog post on signposting content for your students. If you have a spare 5 minutes, we think it is a useful read.
Finally, each course still has a Learn site. This is used as a space where students upload coursework and can receive grades and feedback. In addition, it provides authenticated links to third party platforms such as Piazza (or EdStem) and Media Hopper Replay (Echo360). The announcements tool in Learn is particularly useful for sending important messages to your students.
There is a link on each OpenCourse page to the corresponding Learn site (and vice versa).
