The Room and the World

I gave this talk on 27 October 2021. Part of my research into the material context of Burney’s work, to support a reflection on allusions and authorial construction. Both topics are central to my investigation of Burney in the 1790s. Thank you to the Lucy Cavendish College community to make me so welcome.
A version of this paper, focusing on Frances Burney’s time in Surrey, was delivered as a keynote speech at the North-American Burney Conference on 5 July 2021. You may read a short review of my talk and that conference here. http://nebula.wsimg.com/17a7dc8363beb2534ee19ea3b58b2e60?AccessKeyId=11A807F08DAC7854344C&disposition=0&alloworigin=1  . I look forward to continuing my research on the houses where Burney lived.
