Collage your Question: An EEHN PhD Lab Session 13th October 2025

October EEHN Lab Session – 13/10/2025

Following our first icebreaker session to kick off the academic year, we utilised our second fortnightly meeting slot to ask members to ‘Collage your Question’: asking people to approach their research question from a new, and hopefully interesting, perspective. Inspired by similar workshop models that the lab convenors had attended, this session encouraged participants to consider their research question through visual art-making and then provide feedback on their creation to the group.

With a healthy turnout, participants got stuck in straight away, sifting through the magazines we provided to find images and text that spoke to their project. Given that many of our new members have only just commenced their PhD, it offered a nice way for the rest of the group to connect with their projects and learn about them outside of the traditional presentation setting. Likewise, it gave more seasoned PhDs the space to convey their expertise and consider alternative avenues for public discussion.
