The British Academy of Audiology was asked by the Scottish Ombudsman to report into serious concerns at NHS Lothian Paediatric (child) Audiology service. The reports, published on 9th December 2021, are available here:
- The Governance Report was compiled by two independent audiologists who observed hearing assessments and interviewed staff members.
- The Audit Report was compiled by a team of independent audiologists who examined the records of some of the children who attended the clinic between 2009 – 2018.
We have produced a plain English summary of the two reports as one document.
Lesley McGilp, a BSL translator originally from Scotland, has translated the English summary into British Sign Language so that parents who are deaf BSL users can also understand these important reports.
If you are affected by this report, e.g. you are a parent of a deaf child in Scotland, and if you would like the report in another community language, e.g. Polish, Urdu, Arabic etc, please contact Rachel for a translation. Please say if you want a written or audio file.
